Why Women Strong Women Across the Globe.

Women are the backbones of societies and communities across the globe. In developing countries, women are often expected to perform all of the household duties, all of the child rearing duties, and all of the agricultural duties, while remaining powerless in their community or family.

If women were empowered to contribute financially to their families and communities, our world would be a very different place. When half of a country’s population is not given basic opportunities to develop their potential, the entire nation will suffer and conditions of poverty will persist.

Consider this:

  • When a woman in the developing world is able to earn an income, she will reinvest 90 percent of that income back into her family and her community, whereas men in the developing world will reinvest just 30 to 40 percent of their incomes. (World Bank)
  • Women do more than two-thirds of the world’s work, yet earn less than 10 percent of the world’s wages. (UN Women)
  • Greater economic and educational opportunity for a woman means her daughters are more likely to go to school, her babies are more likely to survive infancy, and her family is more likely to eat nutritious meals. Children of educated mothers are 40 percent more likely to live beyond the age of five and 50 percent more likely to be immunized. (World Bank)

We believe that by giving women the tools they need to become their own heroes, we will see healthier families and healthier communities. We will see nations prosper in new ways. And we will see the shining power that women have to make our planet a better place.
