Why Girls Girls as Global Changemakers.

We believe that girls have the power to change our world.

We believe that if we can unlock the potential of the 250 million adolescent girls who are currently oppressed by their societies or by poverty or by a lack of access to opportunities that we can create a tidal wave of change that will revolutionize our planet.

We believe that empowering and celebrating girls is not only the right thing to do, it’s the smartest thing to do if we want to create prosperous and healthy nations across the globe. Here’s why:

  • By enrolling just 10% more girls in school, a country can increase its gross domestic product by approximately 3%. (World Bank)
  • When a girl in the developing world receives seven years of education, she will marry four years later and have 2.2 fewer children. (Center for Global Development)
  • An extra year of primary school boosts a girl’s eventual wages by 10 to 20 percent. (World Bank)

We are proud members of the worldwide movement that’s been coined “The Girl Effect.” We know that our work alone won’t change the situation facing girls in most developing countries, which is why we seek to collaborate with others who share our belief that empowering girls to have a voice will improve every community in every country in the world.
